Places I want to visit on my next trip to Greece:
Santorini
Marathon Archeological Museum of Marathon. Can go by bus from Athens Pedion Areos terminal to Marathon. It runs regularly through the day and takes about 1 1/2 hours.
Leonidas Monument and the Battlefield of Thermopylae monument. Thermopylae Historical Information Centre for Thermopylae. Can go by train from Athens (Larissa station) to Molos then taxi to Thermopylae. It runs only in the evening and takes about 4 hours, so you would need to stay overnight in Molos.

According to Rick Steves, because of the limited public transportation in Greece outside of the cities, it is best to rent a car to see most of the sites outside of the large cities, or do as I did and take a guide bus tour like Chat Tours which was excellent.
